Travel day SF to IAH to Lima
Here we are at San Francisco airport waiting for our flight to Houston. I used to think Heathrow was the worst carport I’ve ever been in. Now I have to say that San Francisco is currently the worst. The reconstruction of terminal three has made movement between terminals and getting to any of the terminals, particularly, complicated and lots of walking. Well, the staff is friendly and upbeat and trying to be helpful the directions are far from adequate. We ended up walking at least a mile circuitously because we had to check in in the domestic terminal, but the plane leaves from the international terminal. Whew! We are FINALLY at the gate.
And the fun didn’t stop there! The flight was good arrived early. We were able to use the United club which helped us be comfortable for what we thought was a 3.5 hour wait. Partway through we were told that our plane had mechanical trouble and they had to replace it causing a one and a half hour delay and a gate change. So, another trek across another airport. Arriving at the new gate, they announced that there would be a 45 minute delay in boarding, which is where we currently are enjoying what actually is a pretty nice area modern airport so no complaints about that. arrival time in Lima Peru is likely to be about midnight.
We arrived at the Lima airport at about midnight. It took around 45 minutes to get through immigration and pick up our bags. We then exited into the waiting area hoping to see a sign that said Roberts and Bagley, but after much searching, we found no one. Fortunately, some young women that Joe and Toni met on the plane who were native Peruvians came by and helped us to call the limousine company. They managed to get us connected with a ride and at about 2 AM we got to the hotel and checked in and we’re finally in our room ready to get some much-needed rest.
Finally to bed! Exhausted!
